So it was with mixed feelings that I read Robert J. Morgan has recently published <em><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/This-Day-Christian-History-Inspiring\/product-reviews\/0785231897\/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&amp;showViewpoints=1\" target=\"_blank\">On This Day in Christian History<\/a>, <\/em>a devotional book which contains\u00a0events from Christian history for every day of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Though\u00a0the book\u00a0contains 365 daily readings,\u00a0I didn&#8217;t spend a year reading it. I just can&#8217;t read books that way.\u00a0So reading the book as I did&#8211;thirty or fourty daily readings at\u00a0a time&#8211;made for disjointed reading. Though\u00a0Robert Morgan\u00a0(amazingly) finds something significant in church history for every day of the year, they are not (of course) in\u00a0chronological\u00a0order.<\/p>\n<p>On a side note, sometimes the connection for\u00a0a particular day was a bit of a stretch. For\u00a0example, on his selection for today, November 11, he writes about Thomas a&#8217;Kempis, who wrote one of the greatest Christian spiritual classics of all time, <em>The Imitation of Christ. <\/em>The connection with November 11 is that it was on this day in 1897 (about 500 years after Thomas lived) that a monument was erected in honor of Thomas a&#8217;Kempis at St. Michael&#8217;s Church in Zwolle, Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from this, if you like devotional reading\u00a0and church history, this is the book for you.<\/p>\n<p>(Disclosure: I was asked to review this book as part of the BookSneeze program, a\u00a0division of Thomas Nelson publishers.)
