Yet the book is not directed primarily at the church, but at me.<\/p>\n<p>In some form or another, I am guilty of nearly every \u201cfishing\u201d failure mentioned in this book.<em>Adventures in Fishing<\/em>\u00a0is my confession. It is my repentance.<\/p>\n<p>I sent the book manuscript to several authors I know, and several responded with praise for the book. Here is what one of them said:<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re told in the Bible that Jesus never taught without a parable. There was a reason for that. Parables are powerful because they hold up a mirror and force us to see ourselves. I don\u2019t know many people who teach in parables today, but that\u2019s exactly what Jeremy Myers does in<em>Adventures in Fishing (for Men)<\/em>.
