{"id":17713,"date":"2013-04-07T10:00:01","date_gmt":"2013-04-07T18:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/redeeminggod.com\/?p=17713"},"modified":"2017-10-24T15:10:05","modified_gmt":"2017-10-24T22:10:05","slug":"when-is-enough-enough1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/redeeminggod.com\/when-is-enough-enough1\/","title":{"rendered":"When is Enough Enough?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Due to my <a title=\"Thank you for Reading\" href=\"https:\/\/redeeminggod.com\/thank-you-for-reading\/\">recent call for blogs from readers of this blog<\/a>, I recently started reading <a title=\"Quest for a New Perspective\" href=\"http:\/\/www.questforanewperspective.com\/\">A Quest for a New Perspective<\/a>, and I am loving what Gene is writing there.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-17714\" alt=\"enough\" src=\"https:\/\/redeeminggod.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/enough-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/redeeminggod.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/enough-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/redeeminggod.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/enough-150x112.jpg 150w, https:\/\/redeeminggod.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/enough-570x427.jpg 570w, https:\/\/redeeminggod.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/enough.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>In a recent post called &#8220;<a title=\"When is Enough Enough?\" href=\"http:\/\/www.questforanewperspective.com\/simple-living\/when-is-enough-enough\/\">When is Enough Enough?<\/a>&#8221; he said this:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>When is enough enough?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I have a hard time answering that question. Do you?<\/p>\n<p>We have a perfectly good smartphone but we \u201cneed\u201d the latest edition because it provides a few more features that make it a little bit better than the one we have.<\/p>\n<p>We have dozens of shoes boxed in our closets but we \u201cneed\u201d another pair.<\/p>\n<p>We have plenty of clothes hanging above our shoe boxes but we \u201cneed\u201d more.<\/p>\n<p>We have a 50\u2033 TV but we \u201cneed\u201d a 60\u2033.<\/p>\n<p>I deal with these thoughts and temptations everyday. I\u2019ll bet you do too. It\u2019s the society we live in. We always seem to want more whether we really need it or not.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Head on over to <a title=\"When is Enough Enough\" href=\"http:\/\/www.questforanewperspective.com\/simple-living\/when-is-enough-enough\/\">A Quest for a New Perspective<\/a> to see how Gene finishes this post.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->My wife and I have struggled with these questions for a long time, and here are some of the steps we have made over the past couple of years to cut down on expenses and free up some more money so we can be generous toward others. Though these steps are not for everyone, here are some of the things we do:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 13px;\">We don&#8217;t have cell phone service (Hard to believe, I know. But it&#8217;s true.)<\/span><\/li>\n<li>We don&#8217;t pay for a land line phone (We use <a title=\"Ooma Free Telephone\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B002O3W4LE\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=390957&#038;creativeASIN=B002O3W4LE&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=jdmyers-20\" target=\"_blank\">Ooma<\/a>, and LOVE it. You buy the device, and then never pay for telephone again. Just pay taxes&#8230; about $3 per month).<\/li>\n<li>We canceled our cable TV (It&#8217;s all garbage anyway).<\/li>\n<li>We almost never go to movies (maybe 1 per year).<\/li>\n<li>We rarely go out to eat (maybe 2-3 times per year).<\/li>\n<li>We don&#8217;t buy coffee at the stores, but brew our own at home.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We figure that between these six things, we are saving hundreds of dollars <strong><em>each month<\/em><\/strong>. I mean, just add up how much you spend on these six items every month, and then think about what you could do with all that extra money! I don&#8217;t share these things to boast or to guilt you into something you &#8220;<a title=\"Don\u2019t Should on Yourself\" href=\"https:\/\/redeeminggod.com\/dont-should-on-yourself\/\" target=\"_blank\">should<\/a>&#8221; be doing. No, these are things you can do if you want.<\/p>\n<p>Following the challenge from Gene, what are some areas in your life where &#8220;Enough is Enough&#8221; and you can put aside the money you would have spent on the &#8220;upgrade&#8221; to use for the Kingdom of God instead?<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When is enough enough?
