Sam at Grace Ground<\/a> has the best series on this subject I have ever read. It is better even than any book I have ever read on the subject.<\/p>\n

Seriously, if you want to love your community, reach out with the love of Jesus, and reflect Christ to your neighbors, you must read this series.<\/p>\n

Work Towards a Common Goal <\/strong>– Many people want to help someone in need, but have grown weary of appeals for money.\u00a0 Most people, however, love to respond a a local or neighborhood need.\u00a0 When one neighbor\u2019s wife was terminally ill, as neighbors discovered her needs, they helped with food, running errands, visits and flowers.When we visit neighborhood garage sales as the sales are winding down (usually just before lunchtime), we look for blankets, coats, sweaters and similar items that we deliver to a local homeless shelter.\u00a0 When we mention what we plan to do with the items, people often donate the items or sell them very reasonably.<\/p>\n

Last winter during a severe winter storm,\u00a0 we spent a weekend gathering warm clothing and similar supplies and taking them to the winter homeless center for distribution to people sleeping out in the open.\u00a0 Neighbors donated items and even purchased new items to help our city\u2019s homeless people weather the storm.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
