I didn’t watch the video I’ll take your word for it! lol. So long as its not mean spirited. I enjoy Sunday morning worship services. However I don’t believe that that is “church” in the sense of our complete worship and gathering of ourselves together but its all I know as far as a get together where we all sing and praise God, “do” Sunday school and here a message. I’m 43 and been saved 8 years, a member of this church for 7 years and its the only one that I have ever been a part of.
So suffice it to say that I love my church family and enjoy our services! Yes it should be so much more than that, and when our Heavenly Father is worshipped properly and Christ is exalted in our life, then it IS so much more!

I decided to watch it and I must say, the church that I belong to is nothing at all like that one!

That was epic. Made my day. I hope that others are not offended and can find the intended humor behind it. But if you are offended ask yourself why before blasting back.

It isn’t too much of an exaggeration, that’s the problem. I’ve seen churches today and they sound desperate and pleading and have NO authority. When the Holy Spirit has left, the only thing left to do is entertain the audience, keeping the cash flow coming in.

Yes, that might be true. I think many of these church leaders have good hearts and intentions, but since their salary is on the line, they do what it takes to keep their jobs. Of course, they also see it as a way to speak the language of their audience and advance the message of the gospel, but things can get pretty garbled along the way sometimes.

… But that’s true with everything we do, isn’t it.

Jeremy, this is exactly what bugs me about contemporary church in America. I am searching for so much more than the shallow methodology of this kind of “service”.

Yes, it sometimes is little more than a show or a production. Of course, a lot of people get some benefits from that production too…

Dean Norton, a fellow Dean! Actually, the tattoo is a wayihi, which can be loosely translated as “and so it was”. It is the imperfect form of the to be verb hayah with a waw (and) in the beginning.

Jeff, I’ll come check it out! Dean, the tattoo flashed up so quickly, I mistook it for YHWH also, but now that I go back and paused the video, I see you are right.

Haha. The reason I saw this video at all was because we were talking about wayihi, and my OT prof mentioned this funny (or scary) video.

Thanks for sharing. Love parody and satire as it reveals truth that often goes unnoticed.

Christians, like all humans.. tend toward ritual. I remember the old baptist services as a child: sing a few hymns (first, second, skip third, and sing forth verse), announcements, prayer before offering, offering, a soloist, and the message, invitational prayer, alter call, and service is done.

Several years ago (1970s-80’s) I commented to a friend something to the effect that we as Christians should produce the best music and production and nothing less.

Maybe I should have prayed for originality?
