Some of us are going to start a Blogging book Club, and you are invited to join.
How the Blogging Book Club Works
We will select a book (usually about some aspect of Scripture or Theology), and announce the book about 3-4 weeks in advance, so we can all obtain the book and start reading it. We will also invite our blog readers to buy the book.
Then, on a particular date, we will all start writing posts about the book, linking to each other’s blogs, and interacting with each other about the content of the book. It will be somewhat like a Synchroblog, but one where there are several posts over the course of a couple weeks in which we interact not only with the ideas of the book, but also the ideas in other blog posts.
A website is currently under development which will serve as a landing page for the various books we read and links from your blog. More on that in the future.
You Should Participate
If you are a blogger, this is a great way to get to know other bloggers, and to introduce yourself to the readers of other blogs. Also, since every post in the series will include links to all the other bloggers who are participating, this will be a great way for all of us to get backlinks for your blog. It’s a win-win situation for everybody.
If you are a blog reader, this is a great way to read a book which may challenge your thinking, while interacting about the ideas of the book with other people around the world.
Our First Book
The first book we will be reading is not a new release, but one which seems to focus on a topic of interest for a lot of people. It is The Theology of the Book of Revelation by Richard Bauckham. Everybody is interested in prophecy and the Book of Revelation, but Buackham’s book is sparking controversy, because he says that the book of Revelation contains very little prophecy, and is instead, a book which uses coded imagery to criticize the Roman Empire and retell the story of the Fall of Jerusalem in AD 70.
In other words, there is nothing in Revelation about the second return of Christ, the rapture, the millennium, a future one-world ruler called the Antichrist, the Mark of the Beast, or a giant battle at Armageddon. All of that stuff, he says, is a misinterpretation of Revelation. At least, this is what I think he is going to say, since I haven’t read the book yet, but only an online summary.
So whether you are a blogger or a blog reader, if you want to participate, the first thing you can do is get the book and start reading it. We will begin to write posts about this book near the end of October.
Here is our current list of participants. If you want to participate, leave your name and a link to your blog in the comments section below, and I will add you to the list.

I don’t know if I can wait until Oct. 24th. Maybe I’ll cheat and break my budget early 🙂
Jeremy Myers says
I saw they had a Kindle version too. Which one do you think you will get?
Ant Writes says
The Kindle version. I’ll try to convert it to PDF if you’d like
Jeremy Myers says
No, that’s okay…. Thanks, though!
Peter Bowyer says

Interesting! I’ve been wanting to read this book for some time now, and maybe this is as good an excuse as any. However, *if* I decide to participate, could I guest blog on your website? To blog about the book on my own website would interrupt the flow of my current blogging project detailing my “journey” from premillennialism to preterism.
Jeremy Myers says
Mike,
Sure. I do invite people to Guest Blog on my site. Here are the guidelines.
I would ask that you either write a brief post on your blog inviting your readers over to read your review, OR, when you get to the section in your series on preterism, include links to your guest posts at that time. Also, interact with anybody here who comments on your blog post.

I was checking out your blog because I am currently launching a Book Club at our senior center, and was ask by several of the members to think about starting a blog, so I am looking for inspiration.
