I’m Dreaming of a Politically-Correct Holiday

If you are tired of trying to be politically correct around Christmas, then listen to this song. You will laugh. (I wish they had made a music video out of this song, but this is only “video” of the song I could find.)

Click play on the following video, then sit back and laugh at the absurdity of it all. Sometimes, all you can do is laugh…

The song comes from Brad Paisley’s Christmas album.

Oh … and Merry Christmas!

Hey Jeremy, thanks for giving me a nod in the direction of Brad Paisley. Loved the song and I’ve even ordered the album. Can I give you a nod (again) towards the movie ‘Waiting For Forever’ and recommend it for family viewing over the holidays. The movie blew me away and I’d be interested to hear if you got any of the spiritual insights from it that I did. And let us all enjoy Jesus’ birthday!

Have I recommended that movie in the past? I couldn’t find a link to it. It looks Fantastic! But I don’t remember seeing it….

No it was myself who originally recommended it. Don’t hesitate, get it for the whole family. Although I don’t think it was the author’s intention, it’s one of the most spiritual movies I’ve ever seen. (love to hear your thoughts on it) And returning to songs, have you heard ‘The Black Cloud Of Islam’ by Roy Harper? Why he didn’t get issued a Fatwa for that I don’t know. Maybe it’s because Islamic fundamentalist militants don’t listen to obscure folk musicians. Hey, I hope they don’t tune in to your blog………ha, ha.

I put the movie on my Netflix cue. If I like it, I will buy it. Now I am headed off to listen to that song.

I know that it is popular to condemn political correctness, but, at it’s core, not the crazy extremes, it’s about not offending people. I think it’s what we used to call good manners. As Christian’s we should be kind and thoughtful, I think that is part of love.
The video of the pastor is a great example of how we shouldn’t behave as Christian’s. We know Santa Claus isn’t real, but why would he want to ruin Christmas for little children? Was that supposed to be evangelism? I can’t figure out what he hoped to gain from angering parents and disappointing children.
And Jeremy, you are going to attract some interesting people with that title. A lot of people don’t read articles, they just post comments based on the headline/title.

Yes. People sometimes use their freedom of speech to say the most offensive things. This is not the way it should be for Christians. We should work to live with everyone in love and give no reason for anyone to stumble.

After seeing that video of the “pastor ” in the shopping mall, it is hard to have confidence in a “pastor ” who has such a confused idea of Christian witness.

Jesus told a parable that is traditionally called the ‘ parable of the wheat and tares “. Jesus’ teaching in His explanation of the parable quite plainly states that the bad and good in the world will exist together until God rises up to judge. In the meantime no one is authorised to sort out the weeds in society, it is prohibited. God will judge.
And the reason Jesus gives for this prohibition is that the wheat could be damaged by someone trying to dig up the weeds. Surely the “pastor’ would not want to damage anybody, the old ” bull in the china shop” approach it would seem, is not obedience to Christ.

Jesus also stated in His final instructions to His apostles that the Holy Spirit will convict the world of sin. The commission for Jesus followers was to display Christ and announce the coming of the Kingdom of God.

Surely a reasonable presumption is that this commission will be carried out with decorum and sense. If we read in the Book of Acts of the apostle Paul after he was disturbed about displays of idols and made an address to the Athenians , we get the idea of how to do it. Paul never berated the Athenians for false idols, Paul presented to them the God they didn’t know, Christ and the Resurrection.

p.s. that pastor should know that kids are smarter than he thinks, they know Santa is not real, but they know that the presents are real if they go along with the gag.

Mitchell, you can forgive yourself BECAUSE God has already forgiven you for everything.
