Arthur Sido alerted me to the fact that Francis Chan’s books are available for free download today. Thanks, Arthur! And thanks, Francis!

I am not sure how long they will remain free, so go download your copies right away!

UPDATE: The books are no longer free… But if you subscribe to my newsletter, you can get a free ebook, and all future ebooks will be given to newsletter subscribers for free.

    Thanks Jeremy.

I have already read Cray Love but gave it away (Lordship Salvation – he confuses discipleship and salvation) but maybe the other two will be better?

    Thanks again!

I like Chan’s first two, but I have serious issues with Erasing Hell. Unfortunately, whether your are a Rob Bell fan or not, a Francis Chan fan or not, Erasing Hell does the Christian community a huge disservice.

Chan takes lines of Bell’s writing out of context and makes things even worse by attributing some statements to Bell that are not made in “Love Wins” (‘but some of his followers could easily construe these ideas’)

**Chan himself admits/confesses it in the footnotes for Chapter 1.** After I saw that, I couldn’t continue reading…

I’ve not read Love Wins, but as a standalone, exegetical, easy to read discourse on Hell, Erasing Hell is quite excellent.

I disagree… too much implied, too many assumptions and statements in the chapters that are then contradicted or clarified in the footnotes. Easyt to read – yes. And easy to come to an inaccurate conclusion as a result, if you aren’t the type of person who reads ALL of it – which most people aren’t.

I would recommend “Christ Minimized,” by John Zens which addresses both sides of the issue much clearer and with more carefully detailed exegesis (and accurate facts).

Certainly, people should read all of any book they read, including the endnotes. That many people do not is to their own detriment. I’ve not gotten around to reading Christ Minimized yet, but it’s on my theoretical book list.

      Mike, Paul, and Chuck,

I haven’t read any of them, nor have I read “Love Wins.” But now that I got these books for free, I will try to read them all. Maybe I can get to them this year, but there are so many books on my “Must read NOW” pile….

      Fantastic, Thanks!

Any idea how long they will be available for free?

Your website is not very user friendly, when you offer books, one should be able to press a download button instead of a button to buy a free book.

Debbie – it’s not his website (offering the books) or his books. He’s simply letting us know they are available

      Debbie,

It is as Paul said. These are not my books, and so I cannot just make them available for free download through my site by simply clicking on them.

When I make my ebooks available for free, I do make them available in numerous formats, and easily downloadable by simply clicking on a button.

My current free ebook offer is Skeleton Church which you can get by getting the free weekly email newsletter (see the area at the bottom of this post).

I will soon be sending out another free ebook to all my subscribers, and it will arrive right in your email inbox. Hopefully, that is fairly “user friendly.”

I would not recommend Francis Chan to anyone. He is a leading proponent of Lordship Salvation (Masters Seminary – MacArthur)and has also some charsimatic ties. His handling of scripture is very suspect with a heavy reliance on intuitive revelation from the Holy Spirit. His ideas in the book Forgotten God are horrible.

Hmmm. Well, I haven’t read any of them, but now that I downloaded them for free, will have the opportunity to do so.

I don’t mind reading books with which I disagree. It is always helpful to be stretched and challenged!
