Thanks to my Book Launch Team (and an Invitation to you)

Thanks to my Book Launch Team (and an Invitation to you)

I had some people helping me promote a book this week.

As you may or may not know, I started a publishing company almost two years ago, and as part of the process of publishing and marketing books, I wanted to create a “Book Launch” strategy so that the authors whose books we publish could get a good start on helping people learn about their book.

But before I used this Book Launch strategy on one of the books from the various authors we have published, I wanted to experiment with it using one of my own books first. So I chose Why You Have Not Committed the Unforgivable Sin and recruited ten people to help me spread the word about this book.

Of the ten who agreed to get a free book and help me spread the word about this book, here are the six who actually followed through (Thanks!):

  • Brandon Chase
  • Michael Wilson
  • Stan Stinson
  • Tony Vance
  • Bob Bedford
  • Jake Yaniak

Each member of this book launch team has a blog. Just click on their names to go check out their own writings. They all write fantastic stuff.

This Book Launch team helped me out this past week with this first Book Launch. They provided some insights and suggestions for changing future book launches, but for the most part, I think the Book Launch strategy is good to go.

I definitely need to tweak some things with the process, and so the next several launches will be somewhat different than the one I just finished.

Anyway, I am now accepting applications for future book launches. I need to replace the four who dropped out, and maybe a few more as well.  I have four books ready to go now, and two more (hopefully) by the end of the year.

The next book I want to launch is a book called What to Expect from the Holy Spirit by Dr. Earl Radmacher. I want to launch this in LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!!!

If you want to learn more, just visit my Book Launch Team info page. See you there!

Learn to Blog from the Masters

Learn to Blog from the Masters

Frank Viola is a top Christian author and blogger. He (along with Mike Morrell and a couple other bloggers) recently put out a blogging guide called “The Buzz Seminar.” They taught it life in Florida a while back, and have recently made the notes and audio files available for anyone who wants to purchase them.

Buzz Seminar

Now I’ll be honest, this blogging course has a bit of a price tag… (Go check it out yourself).

But as I read through the material and listened to the instruction about how to set up a top-ranked blog and write posts that engage with readers, I kept thinking to myself, “I wish I had known this ten years ago when I started this blog. I would have saved myself hundreds of headaches and scores of costly mistakes.

Then I began to think about all the hundreds of hours I have spent over the past ten years trying to learn some of the stuff in this Buzz Seminar, and it dawned on me …

I asked myself, “If I could get all these hours back in exchange for the price of this course, would I do it?”

The answer was obvious:

Yes. Without a doubt, yes.

The truth is that much of the material that is presented in this course can be found here and there on the internet. But to get at it, you not only have to know what questions to ask which authors are trustworthy, but you will then have to sift through thousands and thousands of web pages and articles, many of which contain contradictory and confusing information.

You could do that if you want.

Or…

Buzz SeminarYou could save yourself most of that time and frustration by learning to blog from those who have “Been there. Done that.”

Learn to Blog from Frank Viola

Why not let someone who knows what they are doing teach you what it is they have done?

In other words, why not let Frank Viola show you exactly how he gets the traffic he gets, grows his blog readership year over year, and gains the readers he does, all so that he can spread the message God has given him about the church and becoming a follower of Jesus Christ?

If you have a message to share with others, blogging is the best and easiest way to get that message out there. But despite what some may say, it is not true that “If you write it, they will come.” You also need to learn some “tricks of the trade” to getting your message out there and before the eyeballs of people around the world.

Let Frank Viola help you do that. Go sign up for his Buzz Seminar today.

But don’t wait too long. The course is only available for a limited time.

Do you have a blog? What was your biggest challenge in starting one? Do you want to start a blog? What is keeping you back?

You can help others with their Bible Questions in the Forum!

You can help others with their Bible Questions in the Forum!

Help others with their Bible and Theology questions!

Over the past several months, I have received dozens of Bible and theology questions using the contact form on the right sidebar, and due to time constraints, I have not been able to answer most of them.

So I am going to post them in the forum and let you provide answers to these Bible and theology questions if you want…. go check them out!

Here are a few examples:

Why is God so violent in Numbers 15:32-36? (Go suggest an answer)

Why did Paul re-baptize twelve men in Acts 19? (Go suggest an answer)

Do all Christians speak in tongues? (Go suggest an answer)

Why are there so many different beliefs among churches? (Go suggest an answer)

Is masturbation a sin? (Go suggest an answer … if you dare!)

Notes from Others

There have also been a couple interesting posts from others. Here is something Justin Wiles wrote:

Ever since I have … been able to share my story and struggles with the community the Holy Spirit’s power to fight sin in my life has abounded. It’s still a rough battle but I hold faith that I’m growing more and more.

So feel free to share a daily victory or a struggle so that we can come together in the spirit of truth and love and encourage everyone to keep fighting the good fight!

Have you found this to be true in your own life? Has community (online and in person) been helpful as you learn to follow Jesus and defeat temptation? I have! If you want to weigh in on Justin’s thread, you can do so here.

There have also been several new introductions from new members on the forum. Go and read them here, and introduce yourself as well!

James Johnson III wrote this:

I have no Seminary experience, but I consider myself autodidactic and my thirst for knowledge has lead me all over the gamut of belief systems in Christianity (I ended up a staunch Calvinist until recently). I consider myself in a state of cognitive dissonance, so I’m hoping to learn a lot and I have a plethora of questions.

Frank wrote this:

My profession is evaluating community development programs facilitated by Christian agencies. In more than 25 years of doing evaluations in Africa and Asia I have discovered that strong Christians often do not see the conflicts that there are between science worldview and Christian worldview.

I always find it fascinating to learn more about the people who read this blog, and I love it when you interact with each other as you so often do in the comment sections on the forums. Thank you for making this blog a place where people can gather online and discuss life, Scripture, and theology.

Had had “had”, had had “had had”, “had had” had had

Had had “had”, had had “had had”, “had had” had had

I find this funny, but I suppose that is my writer’s humor showing through…

had had

The most amazing thing is that that (ha ha!) final sentence is grammatically correct. Don’t you just love English?!

Do you want a blog series on Calvinism?

Do you want a blog series on Calvinism?

CalvinismMy series on the violence of God has exhausted me. I think I know where I want to go with it, but I now need to read about 20-30 more books and let my ideas congeal.

So in the meantime, I need a blog series to “fill the gap.”

Since I used to be a hyper 5-point Calvinist, but slowly rejected Calvinism over a period of about 15 years, I have always wanted to write a series of posts in which I take the passages used to support Calvinism and show how I understand these texts.

I would not write these posts to be contentious or to rile people up. That’s not my desire or goal. I know that lots of people have questions about Calvinism, and I want to do what I can to offer my perspective.

So I am asking you if a series on Calvinism is something you would find interesting. Let me know by taking this 10 second survey below.

Thanks!
